Arrest Made in Georgetown University Campus Shooting

At approximately 2:00 this morning, 42-year-old Benjamin Alcindore, of the 2000 block of Summerset Street in Hyattsville, Md., accompanied by his attorney, surrended himself to detectives at the Second Police District . He was being sought on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with Aggravated Assault While Armed in connection with the shooting last week of another motorist .

The victim was taken to Georgetown University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. His identity is being withheld because he is a potential witness in the case.

Alcindore allegedly shot the motorist at about 8:20 a.m., on December 22, following a minor traffic accident on Turnoff Drive, located on the Georgetown University campus, near 37th and O Streets, NW. Alcindore then fled the scene in his taxicab.

Alcindore is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in D.C. Superior Court.
