Fatal Shooting on Stanton Road, SE

At approximately 3:37 am on Sunday, September 26, 1999, police and DCFD emergency medical technicians (EMTs) responded to a parking lot alongside of 3521 Stanton Road, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds seated on the front passenger side of a Cadillac. The EMTs could find no life signs.

The victim, who has been identified as 22-year-old Derrick Dominic Edwards, of the 2900 block of Knox Place, SE, was later transported by morgue wagon to D.C. General Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead at 6:45 am. The remains were then taken to the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District.
