At 3:00 p.m. today, 30-year-old Metropolitan Police Officer Warren L. Pindell was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery. Pindell, who is assigned to the Fourth District, turned himself in at the Fourth District station, located at 6001 Georgia Avenue, NW.
Pindell, a 9-year-veteran of the department, who was reportedly in full uniform but off-duty on both occasions, allegedly robbed at gunpoint a man seated in a car with a woman. The first offense occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on December 13, 1999, in the 900 block of Farragut Street, NW. The second offense occurred at around 12:55 a.m. on December 27, 1999, in the 4400 block of 7th Street, NW.
Officer Pindell is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in D.C. Superior Court. His police powers have been revoked and he is currently on administrative leave. The investigation being conducted by Fourth District personnel is ongoing.
