Fatal Accident On 50th and Sheriff Road, NE

At about 9:15 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2000, a child ran into the roadway at the intersection of 50th Street and Sheriff Road, NE and was struck by a 1999 Chrysler Sebring. The operator immediately stopped and made her identity known.

The pedestrian, identified as 3-year-old Sydeny Franklin, of the 300 block of Anacostia Road, NE, was transported to Children's Hospital where she was admitted for treatment of severe head trauma. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 1:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27th.

Members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit are conducting the accident investigation.
