Fatal Shooting on Malcolm X Avenue, SE

At approximately 6:28 this morning, police and DCFD emergency medical personnel responded to the area of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X Avenues, SE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest lying under a bus shelter located in the 500 block of Malcolm X Avenue.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of his next-of-kin, was transported to D.C. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 7:06 a.m.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the Seventh District . Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call detectives at 202-698-1276 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
