On Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at approximately 10:53 pm, police and DCFD emergency medical personnel responded to the Bannum Place Halfway House, located at 2210 Adams Place, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they discovered a 33-year male resident suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside of the residence.

The victim, identified as 33-year-old Cleveland McKinney, of the Adams Place address, was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit where he was pronounced dead at 11:34 pm.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
