At approximately 7:35 a.m on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, officers from the First District responded to the unit block of Patterson Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival officers located an adult male lying in front of  38 Patterson Street, N.E. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim who has been identified as 27-year-old Alan Melvin Young Jr. of the 500 block of Franklin Street, NE, was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit where he was pronounced dead.

This case is under investigation by members from the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact police at (202) 727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
