At approximately 3 am, on Saturday, July 16, 2005, a 24-year-old District male was reportedly involved in an altercation with an unknown subject in the 1900 block of 12th Street, NW. The subject was subsequently transported to the George Washington University Hospital suffering from an apparent head injury and admitted in serious condition.
On Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at approximately 5:10 pm, the victim was pronounced dead. The DC Medical Examiner's Office subsequently attributed the cause of death in this case to blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide. The name of the victim in this case is being withheld pending the notification of the next-of-kin.
The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
