On Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at approximately 3 am, DCFD personnel and police responded to a fire at a house under renovation, located at 1048 45th Street, NE. Upon extinguishing the blaze firefighters discovered the badly burned body of Lesley Stewart, unknown address, inside the structure. Trauma to the upper body of this individual was also evident. DCFD emergency medical technicians could find no life signs. Stewart was later transported by morgue wagon to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia.
On July 29, 2005, the case was closed with the arrest of 54-year-old Pierre Lewis, of no fixed address. He has been charged with Murder I while Armed.
