Homicide in the 5000 Block of Fort Totten Drive, NE - UPDATE: Suspect Arrested

At approximately 1:10 am, on Sunday, August 28, 2005, three men reportedly became involved in an argument while in the 4800 block of Fort Totten Drive, NE. The argument spilled over into the 5000 block of Fort Totten Drive, NE, when one of the men stabbed the other two men before fleeing.

 

One victim, a 26-year-old Hispanic male, ran to an apartment  building in the 4800 block of Fort Totten Drive, NE, where an ambulance was summoned. He was taken to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition. His name is being withheld because he is considered a witness in this case. The second victim, located in the 5000 block of Fort Totten Drive, NE, has been identified as 22-year-old Manuel Alfredo Romero, of the 200 block of Hawaii Avenue, NE. He was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

 

The suspect in this case is described as an Hispanic male in his 30s with black hair and a stocky build.

 

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. 

The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
