At approximately 2 am, on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, Metropolitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the rear of 911 3rd Street, SE, for the report of a vehicle fire. After extinguishing the fire, personnel found a body inside the car's trunk. There were no signs consistent with life, and the body was removed to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.
The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
Update, 9/8/2005:
A body found in a burned car in Washington, DC, last week has now been linked to Fairfax County. DC Metropolitan Police detectives developed information which led to the arrest of Dana E. Moro, 46, of no fixed address.
