At approximately 8:31 am on Monday, July 25, 2005, Metropolitan Police were called to an apartment, located at 1517 F Street, NE, for the report of an unconscious male, identified as 53-year-old John K. Reid, of the F Street address.  He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and admitted in critical condition with a head injury.  On Tuesday, July 26, 2005, Mr. Reid died as a result of his injury. On July 28, 2005, the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide due to blunt force impact trauma.

This case was closed with the arrest of 42-year-old Cynthia Mickel, of the 1500 block of F Street, NE. She was charged with Murder Two.
