At approximately 3:33 this morning, Monday, October 17, 2005, police were called to Suitland Parkway at Alabama Avenue, SE. Upon arrival they located two black males on Suitland Parkway suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head. DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the scene but found no signs consistent with life. Both males were taken to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.
The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Marcell Merritt, of the 600 block of Atlantic Street, SE, and 17-year-old Kevin Anthony Jackson, of the 600 block of Yuma Street, SE.
The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
