At approximately 9:12 pm, on Saturday, September 3, 2005, Metropolitan Police were called to the 3700 block of Hayes Street, NE, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located 22-year-old Derrick Jones, of the 3700 block of Cassell Place, NE, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head.  He was taken to the Prince George's Hospital Center and pronounced dead at 9:54 pm.

The above case was closed on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, with the arrest of 21-year-old Ibrahim Farooq, of the 300 block of 16^th Street, SE. He was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
