Homicide on 18th Street, NE

At approximately 7:18 a.m., on Sunday, July 30, 2000, members of the Fifth District and DCFD medics responded to the 400 block of 18th Street, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

The victim, identified as 42-year-old Michael Oliver of the 800 block of 6th Street, NE was transported to the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office where he was officially pronounced dead at 9:20 am.

This case is currently under investigation by detectives of the Fifth District. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call detectives at 202-727-4504 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide in the District of Columbia.
