At approximately 11:30 pm on Friday, July 28, 2000, officers of the Fifth District responded to the 1000 block of Hamlin Street, NE, for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Allen Dorvon Smith of the 1400 block of V Street SE. DCFD medics responded to the scene to render medical assistance but found no signs of life.

The victim was transported the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office where he was officially pronounced dead at 3:28 pm.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide in the District of Columbia.
