Double Shooting On 12th Street, SE

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2000, officers of the First District and DCFD medics responded to the 700 block of 12th Street, S.E. for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, units located a male subject suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld because he is considered a potential witness in this case, was transported to a local area hospital where he was admitted and listed in stable condition.

Subsequent investigation revealed that a second victim, identified as 25-year-old Michael Shea Montgomery of the 400 block of Valley Avenue, SE sustained apparent gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest and was taken to Howard University Hospital by friends where he was pronounced dead at 9:15 p.m.

This case is currently under investigation by detectives of the First District. Anyone with information asked to call detectives at 202-727-4595 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
