On
Saturday, August 26, 2000, at approximately 3:15 a.m., police and DCFD
emergency medical technicians responded to the 1500 block of W Street,
SE for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a man suffering
from multiple gunshot wounds lying in front of 1519 W Street.
The victim, who has been identified as 37-year-old Wayne Herbert Shorter,
of the 1400 block of Southern Avenue in Temple Hills, Maryland, was transported
to D.C. General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m. The
remains were then taken to the D.C. Medical Examiner's Office.
The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the
department's Seventh
