Homicide at 1201 Valley Avenue, SE

At approximately 8:59 pm, on Thursday, November 24, 2005, the Metroplitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services departments were called to an apartment building located at 1201 Valley Avenue, SE, for an apartment fire.  After firefighters extinguished the fire, the body of 23-year-old Makia Mosby, of the Valley Avenue address, was located; she was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel on the scene could find no signs consistent with life. The victim was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

 

The case is under investigation by members of the MPDC's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
