Homicide in the 1300 Block of First Street, SW

Three teens shot, one fatally, Monday afternoon by occupants of a dark colored vehicle

At approximately 12:35 pm, on Monday, November 28, 2005, a group of males was reportedly standing in the 1300 block of First Street, SW, when a dark colored vehicle occupied by one or more individuals began shooting toward the group. Three males were struck as a result of the gunfire.

 

One of the victims, a 19-year-old male, received a gunshot wound to the hip area.  A second victim, a 16-year-old male, received a gunshot wound to the leg.  Both victims were transported to area hospitals and admitted with apparent non-life threatening injuries.  The names of these victims are being withheld because they are witnesses in this case.

 

The third victim in this case was reportedly shot in the arm and body.  He was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit and pronounced dead.  That victim has been identified as 18-year-old Gregory Kirkland, of the 1400 block of 3rd Street, SW.

 

The case is under investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

 

The department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
