Fatal Shooting on 34th Street, NE

At approximately 5:42 on the morning of Thursday, April 22, 1999, police responded to the rear of 424 34th Street, NE to investigate the report of an unconscious person. Upon arrival, they discovered a male suffering from gunshot wounds seated in a Chevy Tahoe. DCFD emergency medical technicians (EMTs) were then summoned to the scene. They could find no life signs.

The victim, who has been identified as 29-year-old Mark Lamont Walker, of the 8600 block of Temple Hill Road in Temple Hills, Maryland, was transported by morgue wagon to D.C. Medical Examiner's Office where he was pronounced dead at 8:15 am.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division.
