One Dead in Multiple Shooting Incident on 4th Street, SE

Shortly after 12 noon, on Monday, January 30, 2006, Metropolitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were summoned to the 4200 block of 4th Street, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they located two males suffering from gunshot wounds who were lying on the parking lot of St. Thomas More Church, located at 4265 4th Street, SE.

One of the victims, identified as 17-year-old Darnell Ford, of the 300 block of Livingston Terrace, SE, was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit, where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, who is 18 years old, was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated and released. His identity is being withheld because he is a witness in the case.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the victims were approached by at least two suspects who produced handguns and opened fire. The suspects, who are described only as black males, then fled the scene on foot.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the MPDC's Violent Crimes Branch.  Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
