At approximately 1 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2006, officers from the First District were called to the 1200 block of I Street, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male inside of a courtyard at that location suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, who has been identified as 27-year-old Antjon Lovett of the 1200 block of I Street, SE, was subsequently transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit where he was pronounced dead.
This case is under investigation by members from the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
