At approximately 10:44 pm, on Friday, February 17, 2006, police were called to a row house located at 1313 D Street, NE, to investigative the trouble. Upon arrival officers located 43-year-old Denise L. Smith, of the D Street, address suffering from apparent multiple stab wounds to the body.  DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel were called to the scene but found no signs consistent with life. She was taken to the DC Medical Examiner's office.  Also located in the home was a 31-year-old male suffering from an apparent stab wounds to the head and neck. He was taken to an area hospital and admitted in a stable condition.

The name of the male is being withheld because he is considered a witness in the case.

At approximately 10 am, on Saturday, February 18, 2006, 46-year-old Jerrold E. Vincent, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with murder one while armed in connection with this case.
