At approximately 9:53 am, on Friday, February 24, 2006, Metropolitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the General Services Administration facility located at 301 7th Street, SW, for the report of an injured worker. Upon arrival, they discovered a 46-year-old male, who apparently had been electrocuted, in an unconscious condition in the basement.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit, where he was pronounced dead at 10:32 am. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

An autopsy will be performed by the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.
