Homicide in the 6200 Block of Banks Place, NE

At approximately 12:30 pm, on August 6, 2005, police were called to the 6200 block of Banks Place, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 27-year-old Jeffrey McGhee, of the unit block of Franklin Street, NE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. He was in and out of different local hospitals over the months as a result of his injury. Mr. McGhee last went to the Prince George's County Hospital where he died at 9 pm on February 25, 2006. The Maryland Medical Examiner's office classified this case as a homicide.

This case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
