At approximately 7:49 am, on Thursday, April 20, 2006, 50-year-old James M. Sadelson, of the 4000 block of D Street, SE, was operating a GSR Suzuki motorcycle north on 17th Street, NE. While at the intersection of 17th and K Streets, NE, the motorcycle collided with a Toyota Camry that was traveling south on 17th Street and making a left turn onto K Street, NE. The operator of the Toyota, identified as 56-year-old Billy Davis, of the 2600 block of Douglas Road, SE, was not injured. The operator of the Suzuki, Mr. Sadelson, was taken to the Washington Hospital Center's MedStar Unit and pronounced dead.
No charges have been placed at this time, and the case is under active investigation by members of the department's Major Crash Investigations Unit.
