Reward Increased to $5,000 in Pedestrian Fatality at 9th Street and Valley Avenue, SE

 

On Thursday, April 27, 2006, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle and fatally injured in the vicinity of 9th Street and Valley Avenue, SE.  The operator of the striking vehicle drove away from the scene of the accident.

 

The victim, identified as 4-year-old Daniel Small, of the 900 block of Wahler Place, SE, was transported by DCFD ambulance to Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:07 pm.

 

The hit-and-run vehicle is tentatively described as a brown colored four-door sedan, possibly a Saturn or a Ford Taurus, license tags unknown.

 

This case is under investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit.

 

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or DC Crime Solvers at 1-800-673-2777. 

 

All calls to the Crime Solvers Unit are confidential and a caller need not give his or her name. If the information provided by a caller to Crime Solvers leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

The department is offering a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible in this case.
