The Metropolitan Police Department is renewing efforts to solicit assistance from the public in solving the "Freeway Phantom" slayings, a series of six murders of young African-American females committed between April 1971 and September 1972. The victims were abducted from their neighborhoods in Washington, DC, and their bodies were recovered in both the District of Columbia and in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Department members will be in Southeast DC on Friday, distributing flyers associated with the investigation.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any unsolved homicide committed in the District of Columbia. In this investigation, with a total of six unsolved homicide cases, the total reward is up to $150,000.
