On Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers of the Sixth District responded to a juvenile group home in the 4400 block of Eads Street, NE for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located Zebedee Hawkins of the 3500 block of Terrace Drive, Suitland, Maryland, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. DCFD medical personnel were called to the scene to render medical assistance.

The victim was transported to the DC General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The case is currently under investigation by detectives of the Sixth District.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide in the District of Columbia.
