At approximately 10:50 last night, Monday, May 28, 2001, an apparent argument occurred between two men while at a carnival being held at the RFK Stadium. The argument reportedly continued while on parking lot 6 at the stadium. It was at this time that a suspect reportedly produced a handgun and shot two men before fleeing.
One of the victims, identified as 22-year-old Freddie Aikens of the 2500 block of 10th Street, NE, was shot in the chest. He was taken to the Howard University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m. A second victim, identified as a 21-year-old northeast man, was shot in the side. He was taken to an area hospital and admitted. The suspect in this case is only described as a black male believed to be in his early 20s.

The department currently offers a $10,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
