Robbery and Stabbing at 4th and Cedar Streets, NW
Suspect arrested for Uttering and Receiving Stolen Property

 

At approximately 3:50 pm, on Sunday, July 16, 2006, a woman was stabbed and robbed of her purse while at the intersection of 4th and Cedar Streets, NW.  The woman was taken to an area hospital and admitted in critical condition.

 

At approximately 8:56 am, on Monday, July 17, 2006, Third District officers arrested 31-year-old E.J. Lesane, of the 5200 block of 5th Street, NW, at a check cashing store located in the 1700 block of Florida Avenue, NW.  Mr. Lesane was allegedly attempting to cash a check belonging to the woman who had been stabbed and robbed at 4th and Cedar Streets, NW.  He has been charged with Uttering and Receiving Stolen Property. 

 

The investigation into this case is continuing. At this time, no charges have been placed against anyone in connection with the robbery and stabbing.

Update 7/20/06
Yesterday, the above-named individual was charged with Robbery in connection with the above case. The investigation into the actual assault is ongoing.
