Homicide On K Street, SE

On Sunday, April 23, 2000, at approximately 12:42 a.m., First District units responded to the 1100 block of K Street, SE for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival units located two unidentified males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DCFD medics were summoned the scene to render medical assistance.

The first victim, who has been identified as 42-year-old Michael Alexis Burgess of the 700 block of Brandywine Street, S.E., was transported to D.C. General Hospital were he was pronounced dead at 1:27 a.m.

The second victim, whose identity is being withheld because he is considered a potential witness in this case, was transported to a local area hospital and admitted.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives of the First District. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 202-727-4595 or the D.C. Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is presently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide, committed in the District of Columbia.
