Today, members of the
Metro Transit Police Department and Metropolitan Police Department
announced the issuance of an arrest warrant for 33-year-old Walter
Orlando Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The warrant charges
Johnson with First Degree Murder While Armed in connection with the June
10, 2001, shooting death of Metro Transit Police Department Officer Marlon
Morales.
The warrant was issued as a result of an ongoing joint investigation by

Johnson is currently being held by Philadelphia authorities. He was arrested
by Philadelphia police on June 14, 2001, as the result of a traffic stop.
He was reportedly found to be in possession of the slain officer's handgun

seek the extradition of Johnson back to the District of Columbia.
