Fatal Shooting on R Street, NW

Shortly before 10:00 P.M. on Friday, June 22, 2001, police and DCFD emergency medical personnel responded to the 1400 block of R Street, NW to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk.

The victim, who has been identified as 36-year-old Junior Gray, of the 4900 block of Whitfield Chapel Road in Lanham, Maryland, was transported to George Washington University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 A.M. on Saturday, June 23rd.

The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the department's Third District . Anyone who has information regarding this case is asked to call detectives at 202-673-6914 or the DC Crime Solvers Unit at 1-800-673-2777.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a TEN THOUSAND-DOLLAR REWARD to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
