Pedestrian Struck at 17th Street and Bladensburg Road, NE

On Monday, June 25, 2001, at approximately 1:35 P.M., a pedestrian was walking eastbound in the 1200 block 17th Street, NE and entered the roadway approximately fifty feet east of the intersection of Bladensburg Road, NE. At that time, he was struck by a 1994 Plymouth van. The operator stopped, identified himself, and assisted in obtaining medical assistance for the injured man.

The pedestrian, who has been identified as 61-year-old Randall Davis, of no fixed address, was transported by ambulance to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR Unit where he was admitted in critical condition.

The accident is currently under investigation by members of the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Investigations Unit.
