On Friday, June 22, 2001, at approximately 6:20 P.M, a motorcyclist was operating his vehicle westbound on Suitland Parkway, SE. Upon approaching the intersection of Firth Sterling Avenue a passenger vehicle making a left turn from eastbound Suitland Parkway entered the motorcyclist's lane of travel. The motorcycle collided with the passenger vehicle and the motorcyclist was ejected.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to Prince George's County Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 29-year-old Elvis A. Edwards of Washington, D.C.
