The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying and locating suspects who committed armed robberies in the Third District early in the morning of Thursday, July 27, 2006.
The first case, which was committed at about 1:30 am, occurred in the vicinity of 14th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, NW. A cab driver was robbed at gunpoint by a lone suspect. The suspect then entered a red colored 1996 Toyota Paseo 2-door hatchback, bearing Virginia license tags KAM1176, and fled southbound on 14th Street, NW, toward N Street. The Toyota was reported stolen in Herndon, Virginia, on July 22, 2006.
The suspect in this case is described as a dark complexioned black male in his late teens to early twenties, approximately 5?8? tall, with a slim build, wearing a white tee shirt and dark pants, and armed with a dark colored handgun.
The second case was committed at about 1:45 am in the area of 19th Street and Dupont Circle, NW. In this case, an individual was sitting in his motor vehicle when he was approached by two suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. After the suspects obtained money and property from the victim, they fled the scene in the same red colored 1996 Toyota Paseo 2-door hatchback, bearing Virginia license tags KAM1176.
The first suspect in this case is described as a dark complexioned black male, approximately 19 years of age, about 5'7" tall, with a slim build, wearing a black stocking cap and a black tee shirt, and armed with a handgun. The second suspect is described only as a black male.
These cases remain under investigation by detectives assigned to the department's Career Criminal Unit (CCU). Anyone who has information about these robberies or who may know the identities or whereabouts of these suspects is asked to call police at (202) 727-9020 or (202) 727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
