January Death of Infant Ruled a Homicide

At approximately 4:15 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2006, officers from the First District responded to an apartment located at 710 12th Street, SE, to investigate the report of an unconscious infant. Upon arrival officers discovered 2-year-old Jamare’ Jones of the above address in an unconscious condition. The infant was subsequently transported to the Children's National Medical Center and admitted in critical condition. On Thursday, January 12, 2006, he was pronounced dead at 12:25 pm.

On Thursday, July 27, 2006, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death in this case was due to Blunt Force Impact Trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

This case is under investigation by members from the department's Special Victims Unit. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any murder committed in the District of Columbia.
