At approximately 10:58 pm, on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, Metropolitan Police were called to the 100 block of New York Avenue, NE, for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, police located an adult black male, suffering from apparent head trauma. He was transported to Howard University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
On Sunday, August 6, 2006, at 3:55 pm, the victim, who has been identified as 58-year-old George Thomas, of no fixed address, was pronounced dead.
An arrest for aggravated assault was made in this case on July 27, 2006. The case will now be forwarded to the United States Attorney’s Office for possible additional charges.
Update, 9/1/2006:
- The homicide of George Thomas was closed on Thursday, August 31, 2006, with the arrest of 32-year-old Lamont Wash, of no fixed address. He was charged with Murder Two.
