On
Monday, July 30, 2001, at approximately 11:00 pm, police and DCFD
emergency medical personnel responded to the 2900 block of 8th Street,
SE, for the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, they located a male suffering from gunshot wounds lying
in the street.
The victim, who has been identified as 26-year-old Demetrius Darren
Cunningham, of the 400 block of Orange Street, SE, was transported
to Howard University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 pm.
The case is currently under investigation by detectives assigned to the
Seventh District .

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a $10,000
award to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and
conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed
