Operation Water Works In Effect Through Wednesday
** Media Advisory **

MPDC wishes to notify the residents of the District Government that a Heat Advisory/Alert has been declared by the District Government for today through Wednesday. As such, Operation Waterworks 2001 is in effect in the District of Columbia today and tomorrow.

Operation Water Works is a joint program between 7-Eleven, Inc. and the DC Metropolitan Police Department that is supplying dozens of PSA vehicles with bottled water that officers can distribute to persons found in distress from the heat on days the DC Government declares a Heat Advisory/Alert.

The 7-Eleven Corporation has donated over 10,000 bottles of water, ice and coolers to the DC Metropolitan Police. There are no special provisions to request the cold water and any residents may simply flag-down a patrol cars and request the cold water. Residents are reminded that Operation Water Works is only in effect on days when there is a Heat Advisory/Alert issued by the District of Columbia government.

Please direct any questions regarding Operation Waterworks 2001 to Kathy Minor, ROC North, at 576-6600.
