On Friday, September 29, 2006, at approximately 1:19 pm, Metropolitan Police and DC F ire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the intersection of Bladensburg Road and Montana Avenue, NE, for the report of a traffic crash. Upon arrival, they discovered that a 2006 Honda Accord and a 1990 Dodge Dakota pickup truck had collided.
The front seat passenger of the Honda, identified as 80-year-old Willa M. Noble, of the 3700 Perry Street in Brentwood, Maryland, was transported to Howard University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:39 pm. The operator of the Honda, identified as 60-year-old Ona M. Noble, of the 5700 block of Ridgeview Drive in Alexandria, Virginia, was also transported to Howard University Hospital for treatment of apparently non-life-threatening injuries.
The operator of the Dodge pickup truck, identified as 48-year-old Leonard Miller, of the 6600 block of Cipriano Road in Lanham, Maryland, was not physically injured.
Reportedly, the crash occurred when the operator of the Honda, who was traveling southwest-bound on Bladensburg Road and making a left turn onto Montana Avenue, apparently failed to yield the right of way to the Dodge pickup truck, which was traveling northeast-bound on Bladensburg Road.
No charges have been filed at this time. The case is under investigation by members of the MPDC's Major Crash Investigations Unit.
