Sexual Assault Suspect Sought

The Sixth District has had several sexual assaults reported in the past several days. It is believed by Investigators that the assaults are all being committed by the same suspect. A breakdown of the offenses and the suspect follows:

  • Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at approximately 9:30 am, a 22 year-old female was walked to a wooded area in the 5200 block of Banks Street, NE and sexually assaulted.

  • Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at approximately 9:00 pm, a 22 year-old female was walked to a secluded area in the 4000 block of East Capito Street, NE and sexually assaulted.

  • On Saturday, August 11, 2001 at approximately 12:30 am, a 17 year-old female was forced to the roof of a building in the 2900 block of O Street, SE and sexually assaulted.
In each case the suspect approached the victim while on foot and displayed a dark-colored handgun, then ordered the victims to the locations. All the locations where the assaults occurred were somewhat secluded.

The suspect in each case is described as a black male, dark complexion, in his early 20s, young-looking, about 5' 7", 140 - 160 lbs. In each case, he has worn a black tee-shirt with unknown markings on the front, blue jean shorts which are rolled at the knees, baggy white socks, and black-colored Nike tennis shoes. In each case, the suspect has had a black and white bandana tied around his head. In each case, he also had the same type of bandana in his pockets or tied around his wrists.
