Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting on Sixth Street, SE

On Thursday, October 5, 2006, at approximately 1:50 pm, police and DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the 4200 block of 6th Street, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

 

The victim, who has been identified as 24-year-old Charles Christopher Jackson, of the 800 block of Southern Avenue, SE, was transported to Prince George’s County Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:20 pm.

 

Members of the department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) along with members from the Seventh District and Violent Crimes Branch responded to a nearby apartment complex located at 4364 7th Street, SE, where the suspect in the shooting reportedly fled. A subject was talked into surrendering and later charged with Murder Two While Armed in connection with this case. He is identified as 23-year-old Leon Hooker of the 4300 block of 7th Street, SE.
