Statement of Chief Cathy L. Lanier on Car Bomb Found in London

(Washington, DC) --  The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) remains vigilant in its efforts to protect the District from terrorist attacks. The District has been on an elevated threat level of "Yellow" since September 11, 2001. Today's discovery of the bomb in London has not changed the terror threat level in the District.  I remain in communication with Federal authorities regarding national security measures which impact our city, and my Department continues to conduct daily inspections of locations throughout the District to guard against terrorist attacks in our area.  Rest assured MPD is taking every precaution available to protect all those in our nation's capital.
