Join OAA and ITVS Community Cinema for "Taking Root"

Join the Mayor's Office on African Affairs and ITVS Community Cinema  for several screenings of “Taking Root.” TAKING ROOT, a film by Lisa Merton and Alan Dater, tells the dramatic story of Kenyan Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Wangari Maathai whose simple act of planting trees grew into a nationwide movement to safeguard the environment, protect human rights, and defend democracy—a movement for which this charismatic woman became an iconic inspiration.

Screenings will take place on:

Sunday, March 15 at 3 pm
Washington DC Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th Street, NW at Q Street

Sunday, March 22 at 5 pm
Busboys and Poets, 2021 14th Street, NW at V Street

Screenings are free but seating is limited and RSVP is required.
