(Washington, DC) - Robert J. Spagnoletti, Attorney General for the District of Columbia, announced today the settlement of a five-year landlord tenant dispute with Levelle, Inc., which operates a lunch cafeteria and Club U at the Reeves Municipal Center, 2000 14th Street, NW. The District filed a complaint against Levelle for possession of the rental property (Store No. 10) for breaching the terms of its Lease Agreement with the District.
The settlement agreement executed by the District and Levelle establishes requirements for the security Levelle must provide for its Club U activities at the Reeves Municipal Center. Additionally, under the terms of the settlement, Levelle agreed to pay the District $100,000 by January 15, 2005, and monthly rent of $2,916 until it vacates the property within 24 months. In turn, the District’s Office of Property Management (OPM) has agreed to withdraw its suit against Levelle and will not contest Levelle's application for a liquor license.
