Washington, DC - Robert J. Spagnoletti, Attorney General for the District of Columbia, said today he firmly agrees with the ruling by the members of the District’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Board (ABC Board) to permanently revoke the liquor license of Club U, located in the Frank D. Reeves Center.
The District has taken the position from the beginning that Club U has failed to adequately protect its patrons – so clearly evident in the recent violence at the club, most notably the death of Terrence Brown.
Attorney General Spagnoletti praised the hard work of his Public Safety Division, headed by Deputy Attorney General David Rubenstein. “The District proved to the ABC Board that Club U’s license must be permanently revoked because the establishment has been the source of a pattern of violence that has plagued the U Street neighborhood,” said Mr. Spagnoletti. “Attorneys within the Public Safety Division should be commended for protecting the safety and wellbeing of the community.”
