Washington, DC - Robert J. Spagnoletti, Attorney General for the District of Columbia, is encouraging residents to take advantage of the provisions in DC law which provide for durable powers of attorney for health care.
Under DC law, District residents may make their wishes known about their desires for medical care should they become incapacitated by executing a durable power of attorney for health care. The form, which is set forth below, can help families avoid difficult decisions about the care of a loved one by spelling out exactly what treatments are, or are not, wanted and who should make decisions on behalf of someone who is unable to communicate his or her wishes.
